The only previous meeting between the two sides took place at the 1982 World Cup which Spain hosted. On that night in Valencia, Hector Zalaya’s 8th minute effort gave Honduras a surprise lead in their first ever World Cup match. It was not until the 65th minute of the game that Spain found a way back into the fixture.

Forward Roberto Lopez Ufarte struck the equaliser from 12 yards out to give Spain a precious point. As fate would have it, Honduras lost their crucial final group game to Yugoslavia and finished at the bottom of the group with two points. Spain qualified despite losing to Northern Ireland a day later.

KRISTEN STEWART ADMITS: ‘I’M OBSESSED WITH MY PUSSY’

KRISTEN Stewart has described herself as a “crazy cat lady”.

The Twilight actress says she’s so boring, she spends all her time at home — with her pets.

“I’m so boring. No I am. I sit in my house with my cat. I’m a crazy cat lady, just give me a couple of years. I have one cat but I’m obsessed with him,” she said.

In a recent interview with Parade magazine, Kristen, 20, revealed that she didn’t need her parents to give her advice on sex, unlike her Twilight alter-ego Bella Swan.

“It was funny the way Bella got so embarrassed in that scene,” she said. “I guess a lot of girls do because they probably don’t need that lecture. I probably had that moment. I guess that everybody does. But I knew everything, from the word go. I was really mature, that way. So, I never really had ‘the talk.’ I didn’t need it.”

Kristen also insisted she’s always honest.

“I’ve always said that I’m not ashamed of anything that I say because I’m always being honest, even though you can definitely make mistakes,” she said. “That’s Bella in a nutshell, so I can completely relate to her. I think it’s a good thing to be proud of who you are, no matter what.

“Success is always something completely different for different people. I feel like I’ve succeeded if I’m doing something that makes me happy and I’m not lying to anybody. That’s why I feel really good about myself right now.”

On Monday, the Cape Town Stadium will host a match between Portugal and Korea DPR at 11:30 GMT. Portugal vs Korea DPR is a crucial game and one that will surely have a great impact on the fate of the teams sectioned in Group G, which is the “Group of Death”.
Raul Mereiles and Bruno Alves celebrating.Portugal To Fight And Avoid Falling Into Korea DPR’s Pit

For Portugal, overcoming the trap of underdogs North Korea is an imperative task. A Selecção drew goalless against Cote d’Ivoire on Match-day One only to increase the importance of Monday’s encounter against the Asians. Anything else than an expected victory will inflict a lot of anxiety on Portuguese fans as the team’s final group match will be against tournament favorites Brazil.

Midfielder Raul Mereiles assured Portuguese supporters of the squad’s awareness concerning the significance of the Korea DPR match.

“The game is of great importance for us. North Korea will play against us just like they did against Brazil. We watched a bit of that game. We know that they are very strong in defense. They have ten players behind the ball. We are prepared. We will work to overcome this defensive wall and win.”

Having drawn twice already in their last four matches, Portugal will be forced to play at a top level against their Asian counterparts. Through a shocking 0-0 draw, Cape Verde already reminded the Portuguese of how poor they can be in attack despite the numerous chances they can create in a single game.

Besides, the goal difference issue may be key in a group where it could be difficult to separate contenders after Match-day Three. However, Raul Mereiles – whose lone goal against Bosnia Herzegovina sealed Portugal’s qualification into the 2010 World Cup – has revealed that Portugal’s aim was to win anyhow and not necessarily hammer the country that is more than 75 places below them.

“At this point, goals may be important. But winning the game is our first priority. That’s our primary objective and we will work for it. Of course, if we can score more goals, it will be good.”

With the 2010 World Cup tournament yet to enter in its third Day, there has been some surprises already. Spain lost to Switzerland, Greece won their first points with a victory over African giants Nigeria, Algeria avoided defeat against Premier League stars team England, New Zealand held Italy to a draw, and Germany’s World Cup penalty record since 1974 even came to an end as Serbia’s Stojkovic saved Lucas Podolski’s spot kick. It seems there is no guarantee that Portugal, who haven’t impressed since finishing fourth in the 2006 World Cup, will beat the North KoreansCristiano Ronaldo being showed the yellow card..

In addition to the ‘upset factor’ is the fact that all is certainly not well within the Portuguese squad. If Deco doesn’t feature against Korea DPR on Monday, it will be because of the spat that occurred between the player and Coach Carlos Queiroz, O Jogo reports. The midfielder was used in the wings against Cote d’Ivoire and eventually substituted for Tiago just after the hour mark. Deco publically avowed his displeasure at having to perform out of his favorite midfield position and this led to the Portuguese Football Federation reprimanding the veteran.

Lack of unity in the squad is definitely not something that Portugal would want to confront during the 2010 World Cup as the coach is keen to drive away any kind of distraction within the team. Now if Deco’s exclusion could be more positive than negative for the Portuguese, the inclusion of skipper Cristiano Ronaldo may prove to be ruinous. The Real Madrid attacker is already on a yellow card following the brawl he had against Cote d’Ivoire’s Demel on Match-day One and his hot temperament on the pitch is something that could cost Portugal dearly.
Go North Korea, Shock The World!

For Korea DPR, shocking the world is their main objective. Their pedigree in the world of football defines them as complete outsiders not only of Group G but of the entire 2010 FIFA World Cup competition. However, their 1966 dream World Cup debut as well as their narrow 2-1 defeat to Brazil on Match-day One reveals that the North Koreans surely have what it takes to dash the hopes of top sides.

Perhaps, the Round of 16 isn’t something they’ll reach in South Africa. But if they may go home from the first round, then maybe they will do just enough to block Portugal’s 2010 World Cup hopes.

The North Koreans were close to making a late historic comeback against five-time World Cup champions Brazil on June 15. Forty-four years ago, they were also on the brink of making it to the semifinals of the 1966 World Cup in what was their first and only World Cup tournament until South Africa 2010.

Portugal vs Korea DPR - 1966.Legend Pak Tu-Ik, who took part in Korea DPR’s famous exploit against Italy before witnessing his team’s 5-3 defeat to Portugal in the quarter-finals, is ecstatic about his country’s achievements. Speaking after Korea DPR’s 2-1 loss against Brazil, the former North Korean international said:

“I never thought I’d see a day like this. That’s a big surprise. North Korean football will continue to shock the world. They put up a tight co-ordination, as well as high skills and good teamwork for that. This result proved our team’s strength. The world was shocked, certainly. Many countries have now recognized us anew.”

Cote d’Ivoire coach Sven Goran Eriksson also revealed his perception about the North Korean team.

“On paper, I agree with Carlos Queiroz, yes. But pay attention to North Korea. You never know. South Korea play good football. If I’m not wrong, South Korea and Norht Korea were both in the same qualification group. So I think we should respect them. You never know what will happen in the next round of matches and how important the last games will be.”

For a team that has always had plenty of talent, it comes as a surprise that Spain have never made it past the quarterfinal stage of the World Cup in the last five and a half decades. They were eliminated in the Round of 16 by France at the last World Cup. At full strength, La Furia Roja can toy with opposition teams with the likes of Andres Iniesta and the imperious Xavi in midfield and Fernando Torres and David Villa upfront.

Switzerland recovered from an early loss to lowly Luxembourg as they managed to top their European qualifying group. In Ottmar Hitzfeld, they have one of the best coaches in the business. There is plenty of talent in the Swiss squad with the likes of Gokhan Inler, Valon Behrami, Tranquillo Barnetta and Eren Derdiyok present. Upfront, the Swiss will again depend on skipper Alexander Frei, with veteran Blaise Nkufo set to play a supporting role.

Spain will close Match-day One of the 2010 FIFA World Cup with a 14:00 GMT kick-off time match against Switzerland on Wednesday. This all-European tie will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, where Germany trounced Australia 4-0.
Spain players jubilating.European Champions Spain To Go For The Kill

When will La Furia Roja ever stumble to a defeat again since surprisingly losing to the United States in the semi-finals of the 2009 Confederations Cup tournament?

This year, the Spanish national team of football have played four games – all being friendly matches – and they experienced nothing order than victories. France, Saudi Arabia, the Korea Republic, and Poland lately, have all been consumed by Spain’s red fury. Like they do it best, Vicente del Bosque’s men are once again expected to destroy their Swiss counterparts – whether emphatically or narrowly.

The truth is that pundits are tipping the Spanish to grab nine points out of nine, and prolific striker David Villa is rather happy than nervous about the way the public view his side.

“For us, there is no pressure. Expectations are always there, and that’s because people see that we can play well and win. We are aware that it is easier to win by playing our game. Expectations don’t put us under pressure. It is almost a compliment.”

But as expectations rise up, there is also the imperative need for the 2008 European champions to be on their guard. Switzerland have miserably gone without a single victory in their last five matches, suffering from three defeats on the trot between November 2009 and June 1, 2010.

But their draw two weeks ago against 2006 World Cup winners Italy suggests that they might have some fire in the belly ready to explode against Spain. Ruling out any kind of complacency in his team, Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso revealed:

“We watched videos of Switzerland’s friendly matches against Costa Rica and Italy. They are strong on the counter-attack and they are threatening from set-pieces. Physically, they are strong with a stout upfront able to hang onto the ball.”

Expect the Spanish to go for the kill as they’ve already killed complacency.
Switzerland’s Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, Praising Spain And Fearing For His SideSwiss Coach.

It looks like Switzerland’s Ottmar Hitzfeld has been captivated by Spain’s captivating form. The manager was forced himself to be optimistic in a statement he made on Tuesday:

“It is going to be difficult. All our players will have to be at their best, and goalkeeper Diego Benaglio will have to play the game of his life. The team should be totally convinced that we can win. Still, in ten meetings against Spain, we have lost eight times. But the doors are open, so it is possible.”

He went on to praise the Spanish team for a long moment, declaring at a point in his statement:

“I think Spain is the best team in the world currently. Imagine how difficult it would be for a modest team like Switzerland to come up against the most powerful national team on the planet. Just understand the differences that may exist in that opening match between the two.

“The great thing about the Spanish side is that it perfectly combines efficiency with brilliance; and that includes their players on the bench, not only those on the pitch.”

Still, Ottmar Hitzfeld reserved some hope for his boys, saying:

“We want to be a competitive team and make it hard for the rest to play against us. Our goal is to cross the threshold of the groups and reach then knockout phase.”
Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that being on World Cup 2010 finals duty with his country against Switzerland has kept his mind off the swirling rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona from current club Arsenal. The Gunners captain has refused to comment on continuing speculation that he will return to Catalan once the tournament in South Africa ends for the European champions.
Click here to watch the match Live

Fabregas is clearly intent on doing well with Spain and has set his sights on playing a part against Switzerland whom they will face in Durban in both countries’ Group F opener. The transfer rumours surrounding the former Barcelona youth player began late last season and intensified when the midfielder was reported to have been tapped up by the La Liga champions during his summer holidays back home.

Fabregas has since then informed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he no longer wishes to play for the Gunners but remains in the centre of a tug of war between the two clubs who are not able to meet on a valuation of the midfielder.

“I am isolated from it all and I am not thinking about anything else apart from the national team,” Fabregas said.

“I have come to play a World Cup, which is the best thing possible for a player, with the same excitement that I had at the World Cup in Germany when I was 19.

“I am hungry to do something important and the only thing I will do is always give everything, with a lot of desire and make sure the hunger and competitiveness are never lacking.”

Fabregas is unlikely to start against Switzerland if Andres Iniesta passes a late fitness test for La Furia Roja. The midfielder will face the same situation if he moves to Barcelona with national team mates Iniesta and Xavi both making up the main fulcrum of the Catalan giants.

Match date: 16 June, 2010 - Kick Off : 13:30 CET
Venue: Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, South Africa

Latin American's brotherhood will temporarily be forgot be these two combatants, as both Chile and Honduras are part of one of the toughest groups around. Having never faced each other in a world championship, their realities are completely different: Honduras showed their lack of experience will be their main enemy in the fields, particularly considering David Suazo is nos yet fully recovered for the match, seriously weakening it's team offensive. Marcelo Bielsa and his reds need a victory to boost their confidence and claim their ticket for the next stage... will they make it?

Reinaldo Rueda's boys will have to show the last weeks of training have polished the many imperfections the team had during the qualifying stages. Honduras is having problems in both fronts, receiving a goal and a half on average during the last 6 games and wasting most of their opportunities to score. Without Suazo to make the trick in the last meters it will be tough for them to break Chile's sturdy back line.

Rueda's ace up his sleeve will undoubtedly be Rambo de León's prowess in the free kicks. His finesse and depth of play offer an offensive variant to the squad against a rival not known by its aerial play. Team's coach will have to come up with new offensive ideas considering Wilson Palacios' recent muscular injury that might keep him away from the fields. Danilo Turcios and Amado Guevara will be in charge of controlling midfield's ball flow, and the latter is one of the few players with experience against La Roja, having scored a decisive goal the last time these two teams faced each other.

Considering Spain is waiting ahead, Honduras know a defeat at the debut will have them packing in advance. How to combine a solid defense with a sharp offense will be the enigma team's coach will have to answer by Wednesday.

Marcelo Bielsa has completely changed Chile's image to the world, for only once has the Roja been able to advance to the stage of sixteen, and everything appears to be pointing forwards for this Wednesday's match, in which the Chileans will have to show their expertise and demonstrate they're ought to be taking seriously in this competition. The last friendly matches have shown their offensive at their best, while their goal remained shut thanks to team's captain and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Zaragoza's Humberto Suazo will most likely watch this game from the bench, as the different physical problems he has experienced in South Africa might give Jean Beausejour an opportunity to join Alexis Sanchez in the last meters. Beausejour is still in debt with Marcelo Bielsa, having been able to score a single goal in 26 matches wearing its National Football Team colors.

One of Chile's main historic problems has been their weak midfield, always lacking a solid presence in the center of the field from to whom the rest of the players could find their place in the field. Mauricio Isla is one of the main pillars of Chile's new generation. He declared regarding Bielsa's work "He has taught us a lot of things about football, like how to play and move as a unit and defend as a team. It's all down to him". Bielsa's experience with Argentina in World Championships might better be forgotten. Nevertheless this might be his time to change the course of history and grab destiny by the horns.

Alexis "Wonder kid" Sanchez will be decisive for Chile to claim the three points. Without team's top striker, Sanchez will have to put most of team's offensive on his back to lead Chile towards victory. "We want to be world champions. We know that we have the chance this year and that's the target we've set ourselves" he declared regarding this first match. Honduras' fragile back line might offer many opportunities for Sanchez to show his expertise and entice Europe's giants to lure him to the most challenging football. Nevertheless he is happy with his performance in Udinese Calcio, where he has the space to make the most out of his individual capabilities.

The last time these two teams faced each other, Honduras surprised everyone with a 2-0 victory. In the last five friendly matches the central American squad could only score two goals, losing three games and drawing in two occasions. Two missing Suazos will be the trademark of this clash, in which one team might be left empty handed from the very beginning.

Welcome here this Wednesday, 16 June 2010 and watch Honduras takes on Chile live online soccer match in the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa 2010 football online satellite soccer TV broadcast at this time 11:30 GMT. Chile were impressive in South American qualification under coach Marcelo Bielsa, winning more games than continental powerhouses Brazil and Argentina. Bielsa, an astute tactician, also guided the country to its first ever win over Argentina in qualifying, thereby making him a national hero. Striker Humberto Suazo, Chile’s top scorer in qualifying, is likely to feature in this game after making a quicker than expected recovery from his hamstring tear. Bielsa is expected to play a three pronged attack with Alexis Sanchez and Mark Gonzalez supporting Suazo from the wings.
Honduras suffered an injury scare of their own when Tottenham Hotspur’s Wilson Palacios was stretchered off in a friendly against Romania, but the influential midfielder has said that he will be fit in time for his nation’s World Cup opener. Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda could experiment with two strikers upfront after seeing his 4-5-1 formation meet with little success in the country’s qualifying games on the road.

It will be the most important soccer match played in South Africa since, well, Friday. South Africa (0-1-0, 1 point), who finished in a draw with Mexico (0-1-0, 1 point) in the 2010 World Cup opening match returns to the pitch on Wednesday with dreams of advancing past group play under their own control at this point. Next up for Bafana Bafana is a tough test against Uruguay (0-1-0, 1 point) who finished in a scoreless draw against France (0-1-0, 1 point) in their World Cup opener.

With all four teams in Group A tied at one point a piece after the first games have been played, the second match carries extra importance for all. A win on Wednesday should give Uruguay or South Africa the upper hand in advancing to the knockout rounds of the World Cup. For South Africa optimism is high while the critics believe there is little chance they will advance. Before the World Cup opened soccer experts all over believed that South Africa would be the first host nation in the history of the World Cup to not advance past group play. But has not bothered South Africa.

“We have two games [remaining] in our group, they are both very important,” Itumeleng Khune said, according to FIFA’s official website. “We respect both of them, but I know we can beat them. We played well against Mexico and we could have won the match, but it didn’t happen. Our goal is to go to the knockout stages, and from there, anything can happen.”

Khune is not alone. Midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala had some confident words when discussing the next match against Uruguay. "Uruguay will be in trouble if we carry on where we left off against the Mexicans... A win against Uruguay will virtually seal our passage into the second round and make the nation even prouder."

If South Africa is to pull off the upset and make their path to the next round an easier road o travel they will need to be prepared for a physical game. "Uruguay are a really physical team who are well organized in defense with three center-backs and also boast several good attacking players apart from Diego Forlan," midfielder Steven Pienaar said. "We must focus on our game and make sure we get the right result as the group is wide open."

Uruguay's Nicolas Lodeiro will not play in this match after receiving a red card in Uruguay's draw against France.

How tired is Pienaar?

What level of play will Steven Pienaar
be able to achieve?
(AP Photo/Ivan Sekretarev)

One of the concerning stories stemming from South Africa's draw with Mexico was the level of play from midfielder Steven Pienaar. Pienaar appeared to be lagging behind the play on numerous occasions and after the match he admitted that his legs were tired. While playing for Everton in the Premier League Pienaar had played in a good number of games over the last few months, which has clearly taken a bit of a toll on him.

Pienaar says "as long as my mind and my heart are willing, I'll keep pushing myself as hard as I can go. [The Premier League is] a league of high intensity and when you are coming off a tough season, its normal that sometimes the body gives in. But for a tournament like the World Cup, you want to give your best and you can't let your body hold you back. You just have to push on."

Clearly this looks to be a pivotal game for South Africa, who needs every point they can get in their final two group matches. With all teams tied at one point in the Group A standings South Africa could benefit greatly from a win against Uruguay with France looming. The same goes for Uruguay, who will wrap up group play against Mexico.

The committee also decided not to consider Libya’s solo bid as it no longer met all the stipulations laid in the official list of requirements.
